Lisbon once again hosted the Thailand Festival, held at the Vasco da Gama Garden in Belém, from 20 to 22 June. The event brought together thousands of visitors who had the opportunity to discover and experience the richness of Thai culture, art and gastronomy. With the theme “Creative Pulse”, the 2025 edition highlighted the fusion of heritage and innovation, in a vibrant celebration of Thai identity.
Organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Portugal, with the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Lisbon City Council, the festival featured Muay Thai demonstrations, fruit carving workshops, fashion shows, cultural performances and talks with monks and travel experts. Tourism in Thailand also held the final draw for the traditional Online Contest, which this year had the theme “Sustainable Tourism in Amazing Thailand”. A total of 11 prizes were raffled, including two trips to Thailand, as well as stays in Thai hotels and vouchers for gastronomic experiences, massages or Muay Thai sessions, among others.
Among the special moments, the “Travel Talk” also moderated by Thailand Tourism stood out, with the participation of writer Margarida Pereira-Müller and Tour Leader Tito Elbling, who shared stories and interesting facts about the country. Margarida Pereira Müller also explained how Portuguese cuisine influenced and continues to influence Thai cuisine to this day, in a very dynamic and lively way.
The Thailand Festival thus reaffirms its position as the largest initiative to promote the destination in Portugal, bringing the Portuguese closer to the country of smiles.
