Lusitano Garden Villas, a new four-star resort located in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, announced its official opening in October.
Soft-opening since March, Lusitano Garden Villas is born from the equestrian tradition of the Canto Tavares family, renowned for breeding Lusitano horses since the 1940s. Currently managed by João Gomes de Menezes do Canto Tavares, the resort maintains the agricultural activities of Casa Agrícola, combining the breeding of Lusitano horses and Aberdeen Angus cattle with unique tourist experiences.
The project features 16 villas, designed by architect David Almeida, distributed between standard and premium typologies, measuring 44 square meters, including four connecting units, ideal for couples or families. Each villa accommodates up to four people and features a double bedroom, sofa bed, and kitchenette. The standard villas stand out for their spacious balconies with views of the sea, mountains, or pool, while the premium villas offer a private outdoor deck with a dining area and exclusive jacuzzi.
João Gomes de Menezes do Canto Tavares, administrator of Lusitano Garden Villas, emphasizes: "This project represents the continuation of a unique family tradition, combining the best of Lusitano horse breeding with a tourism offering that emphasizes comfort, well-being, and connection with the nature of the Azores. We want each guest to have a memorable experience, in contact with our heritage and the beauty of São Miguel Island."
Helena Castanho takes over as general manager of Lusitano Garden Villas, bringing her consolidated experience in hotel management on São Miguel, ensuring that every detail of the guest experience reflects quality and care.
